biatlonas statusas T sritis Kūno kultūra ir sportas apibrėžtis Žiemos sporto šakų dvikovė – slidinėjimo lenktynės (vyrams – 10; 15; 20 km; 4×7,5 km estafetė, moterims – 7,5; 12,5; 15 km nuotoliai, 4×7,5 km estafetė) su šaudymu iš šautuvo į penkis per 50 m atstumą esančius taikinius. Į žiemos olimpinių žaidynių programą įtrauktas nuo 1960 m., pasaulio čempionatai rengiami nuo 1958 m. Lietuvoje pradėtas kultivuoti 1960 m. kilmė lot. bis – dukart + gr. athlon – varžybos, kova atitikmenys: angl. biathlon vok.
